Financial Assistance
What is Financial Assistance?
We believe that everyone in our community deserves the opportunity to benefit from YMCA programs and services. When someone loses a job, when medical bills become overwhelming, or when other challenging situations occur, people need the support, and the Y steps in. Our financial assistance program offers a sliding scale discount to fit the financial situation of those in our community. We want everyone to have the opportunity to participate in our programs and services. Financial Assistance ensures that.
Our Financial Assistance program is funded through community donations to our Annual Campaign.
How do I get assistance?
Contact the nearest YMCA branch and request a Financial Assistance Application.
Complete application and then submit it with the required documents. In order to process your application, you must attach copies of the items below to your completed application. This application will be processed only if the application is complete and the required items are attached: Financial Assistance Application
A copy of your most recent tax return (1040 or 1040EZ) for everyone living in the household, or verification of non-filing (phone number for IRS is 1-800-876-1715)
The last 2 paycheck stubs of everyone in the household who is working
Proof of Social Security or Social Security Disability Income, if applicable
If you do not have your income documentation when you join then you will have a 2 week grace period to bring in verification of income or your membership rate will go back to full price on your next draft date. If you do not bring in your income verification, this does not automatically cancel your membership. The membership will be at full price until you come into the branch and cancel your membership.
Note: If you do not have a copy of your tax return, you may obtain one by calling the Internal Revenue Service at 1-800-908-9946. If you did not file taxes last year, or if you don’t have the other documentation that’s required, please submit a letter explaining your personal financial situation. Note: If required documentation is not complete, the process will be delayed.
